Yahoo Losing 3 More Top Execs, Raising Worries
That is less than half what they could have gotten for the stock 2 years ago. If Yang starts a new start-up, would it make a sound? Because there would be no one there to hear it.
I was a huge supporter of the Microsoft Yahoo merger. I recall going against the trend on Flickr posting pro-Microsoft and welcome poster when it seemed obvious the take over would happen. I didn't understand how poor a business man Yang was at that time. The merger made perfect sense as far as I could see, extending Microsoft's web services to such an extend that over night Google would lose its essential monopoly on many web features, and offering the ability to ultimately bring in Facebook (which is very close to Microsoft) to exploit synergies in mail, social networks, photography, and search while reducing redundancies. As mergers went that one may perfect sense.
But the ship sailed away and if Microsoft is still interested in buying out Yahoo, it would probably be wise to wait until it can pick it up for a excellent price, like say $1 and all outstanding debt.
